Carol looked at her red face and white hair in the hand mirror and sighed as she wiped away another tear. Steve had been horrified when he’d first seen her, but the doctors had assured him that this new look was temporary.
She wondered how long the other scars would take to heal. Steve had never liked her going off exploring on her own, but she'd considered the risk hers alone. She’d never realized that she could get so many other people’s family members killed.
