The night breeze touched Helona's neck, and she shivered. She'd gone to visit Sherry in the middle of the day and had dressed accordingly.

She finally found her spear lying in the tall grass off the side of the road where a Space Force agent had chucked it. They'd dropped her off exactly where they'd apprehended her a week ago, at the edge of a farmer's field just outside town. She carried Samuel Grant's book on beadwork in her hand. Its contents intrigued her, and she knew it would be useful to her in more peaceful times. However, in her investigation to find Gary and uncover the truth about the kidnapping ring, it was just dead weight.
