An alien expedition to study a spatial anomaly ends in tragedy.

“Do you see it, Kifflerad?” Filrass said to the comm screen.

“It’s just so small,” she said, shaking her head. “Noticing it in static data recordings differed from finding it in a live sensor feed. The numbers flowed by too fast.”

Grifab scowled. Scientists used robotic probes for dangerous work for a reason. Hyperprobes could be easily replaced—the people onboard Brakif and Makentir could not. Once they’d confirmed that they couldn’t use hyper probes for this study, they should have gone home and come back later after they’d invented better hyper probes.
