Carol Berlin and Steve Holbrook land Escape Pod #31 on an alien planet.
“We’re still coming in too hot; we need to slow down.”
Carol Berlin once again wished that her boyfriend, ship’s engineer Steve Holbrook, had hitched a ride on someone else’s escape pod.
“It’s not time to fire the engines yet,” he replied. “If we do it now, we’ll fall short of the landing zone.”
He reached over and turned a dial on the command console in front of her.
“Keep your hands off that," she said. "That’s attitude control; it's not part of navigation.”
