Episode 41: The Brethren

Commodore Griswald makes first contact with the genetically enhanced super-soldiers.

The hairs on the back of Griswald’s neck stood up, and he adjusted the strap on his eye patch. Prosthetic eyes had to be carefully fitted for size and made to order from either Earth or Alsephina. His prosthetic leg, on the other hand, had been delivered far more quickly because the company that made them had built a manufacturing facility on Feleg 3. The prosthetic gave feedback directly into the nerves in his leg, so that he hadn’t even needed to learn to walk again and could return to duty.

“Someone should have responded by now,” he said to Commander Trishret, who led the group of Eridani observers he’d brought with him from Stanstesia Station.

“Yes,” replied Trishret. “They have receivers on both the planet and the shipyard. They can not only clearly see and identify your hyperdrive signatures, but also hear your hyper-comm attempts. They also should have sent ships out here by now to challenge us.”

“What ships do you have deployed here?” said Griswald.
